AS OF JANUARY 14, 2011, THIS SITE IS DEVOTED TO ADDRESSING THE UPCOMING CHANGE TO THE RULES OF WALKING OUR DOG(S) IN THE GOLDEN GATE NATIONAL RECREATION AREA (GGNRA) IN MARIN COUNTY.    THE 90 DAY PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD HAS BEEN EXTENDED.  YOU NOW HAVE UNTIL MAY 29, 2011 TO SEND YOUR COMMENTS TO THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE ON THE PROPOSED CHANGES.
           
IF YOU ARE CONCERNED, DO THE FOLLOWING 5 THINGS:
           
1) GET INFORMED: read the 1979 Pet Policy to see the current GGNRA dog rules, and read DEIS EXEC SUMMARY to see a summary of the proposed GGNRA dog rules. The 1979 Pet Policy and the DEIS EXEC SUMMARYcan also be accessed on this site under 'Docs and Maps'.
         
2) SPREAD THE WORD:  tell your friends across the country, the GGNRA is part of the National Park Service, it belongs to all of us; ask them all to comment. 

            
3) SEND COMMENTS TO THE NPS BEFORE MAY 29TH, 2011: submit your comments on the Dog Management Plan DEIS to the National Park Service using one of the following 2 methods:

      a) On-line  on the NPS Park Planning website at :  http://parkplanning.nps.gov/dogplan
      
       b)  Mail to:

Note: The NPS will not accept comments sen via the GGNRA website, only from the NPS Park Planning website, nor will it accept comments  by phone, fax, or email.  Bulk comments in any format (hard copy or electronic) submitted on behalf of others will not be accepted. 

5) Sign the petition at  http://www.petitiononline.com/GGNRA003/petition.html   to let Federal officials know you are concerned about the limitations on dog walking in  the GGNRA's Draft Dog Management plan.  This petition is not a substitute for sending in comments.  Please do both. 

6) SEND MONEY - Crissy Field Dog has hired a National Environmental Protection Act (the DEIS is written using NEPA law) attorney.  He is reviewing the DEIS and will provide analysis and advice on all sites (and he is not free).  You can help by sending a tax deductible check to:
